I am an FMG from a Caribbean school (american citizen). Med school grades are decent (Bs). Step 1 is 235, and taking step 2 in 2 weeks (all predictive scores are saying 230-240). Assuming I get a step 2 score in that range, I was wondering if taking step 3 soon and getting a decent score on it (230ish) would help me in the match. I'm shooting for surgery but would also be happy with a good IM program in a nice city.

So bottom line, good step 3 in addition to good step 1 and 2 will it make me a better applicant for match?

Hard to say, most programs do not care whether you have taken Step 3 if you have decent grades on your other exams, which you do. It will not hurt you, but it is hard to predict whether it will make you a "better" candidate at all. If you can take it though, why not get it out of the way? (it's what I did, despite not going for an H1B visa)
