Sorry if this question has been posted and answered already....
But my school really emphasizes Step Up. They emphasize 1st Aid too, but Step Up got more recommendations. And I like Step Up so much better than 1st Aid. I think it flows a lot better and makes more sense.
However, I feel like I'm committing some big sin by not using 1st Aid as my main resource. What I wanted to do was Step Up, Q bank, Robbins Q's, and 1st Aid as supplement. That's it, b/c I need to focus on a few resources rather than a ton of books. So no one can predict of course how someone will do, but are there thoughts on using Step Up instead of 1st Aid as the main resource?

I don't think the material differences between the two are huge--it's more a matter of layout. From what I hear, the new systems-based layout of FA makes this difference even a little less important.

Either way, both SU and FA are meant to be roadmaps/springboards, not primary review texts. As long as you choose your main texts well (hint, hint) you shouldn't have much of a problem using either one over the other.

i don't think it matters either. i started using FA in the beginning but now i like step up way more. its a personal decision. as long as u learn the material, you'll do great 🙂

When I was studying and compared the two side by side, there were a lot of facts (many of which were on the exam) in FA that didnt make it into Step Up. Maybe that has changed in recent editions, but at the time I didnt feel comfortable using just Step Up.

Step Up is not as comprehensive as First Aid, but I feel that the tables in SU are much more organized. You should know all the topics in FA, but I find it helpful to go over the tables in SU becuse it groups all the similar diseases/conditions in one chart for easy comparison. So if you have time, definitely use SU as a supplement.
