When people say they studied for Step 2 using Step Up, do they mean Step Up to Medicine or Step Up to Step 2 or both? Are both necessary? If not, which is better?

If you are using Step Up series for Medicine Clerkship or shelf, use Step Up to Medicine.

If you are using Step Up Series for Step 2, use Step Up Step 2.

It is not an uncommon question; but the answer is in their title.

Good lucK!

Personally I found the fact that everyone used that series to be highly overrated..

No one used Step up to Step 1...

And then no one uses First Aid Step 2CK...

Sheeple... (pardon me... it's just my pet peeve)

(the books themselves are very good though and I see why people do that)

So essentially, get both. I was hoping Step Up to Step 2 would suffice for the medicine shelf, but I guess not. Thanks for the advice!

That fact is highly overrated. The real fact, which is not highly overrated, is that the books are not highly overrated, and is what I believe to be your original postulate. Check your syntax, sir. SYNTAX!

And to better respond to what you meant to ask (as apposed to your verbage) First Aid Step 1 was designed first. It was made the series worth being a series. People made money and so continued to expand the series, knowing they had people hooked with their Step 1 book. First Aid Step 1 is the best resource for Step 1.

Step Up said "first aid has the market on Step 1, lets do something good for Step 2." And voila, Step Up Step 2 was born. It is probably the best resource for Step 2 (I personally used First Aid). Step Up Step 2 made some money. And, knowing that people identified with the series, expanded it to make money. They compete with First Aid.

Basically. First Aid SERIES and Step Up SERIES aren't very good. They are ok, and if people like them, they will get used. First Aid Step 1 is their powerhouse. Step Up Step 2 is their powerhouse. Everything else is just made to fill a void where people sell books.

First the Grammar Police, now the SYNTAX Team...

Yes, you have described the phenomenon of why one book is preferred over the other.

If I were to clarify my answer to be more helpful to the OP:

Step Up to Medicine is great for both your rotation and your Step2CK

Step Up to Step2CK is a bit flimsy, but a decent source of review.

I did not use Step Up to Step2CK. Rather, I used First Aid for Step2CK so I could be different. I am a natural contrarian (who apparently is so contrarian as to use poor syntax)

And no... there is no malice in my (textual) voice... one quip deserves another.

step up to medicine blows for Step 2. Too much information, hard read, hard to get through, you don't need to know that much for your test.
