When applying for the child match is it similiar to when we applied via eras for general adult eg. one application or do I have to fill out each institutions unique application and then just sign up for the match.

A little confused can anyone point me in the right direction.
thanks😀

Hi,

I ended up only applying to one program, but had originally submitted 3 applications.

I think most programs use the NRMP (http://www.nrmp.org/) for the match and then have an application that you submit directly to them. However, there may be a few that go outside the match and you should just contact the programs to find out. I think a lot of programs use the same application called the "Common Child/Adolescent Application" so you don't have to complete multiple apps. But you submit it directly rather going through ERAS.

Most programs start taking applications in early summer and interview in later summer through Fall. You have to finalize your rank list by early to mid December. The results for this year came out on January 6th. I think that is basically it.

Good luck! 😀

agree with the above, with the following additions:

no centralized application process (i.e. no ERAS). applications must be gotten from the individual programs. most have links to download the application on their website. i'm not sure if they're all the same ~ i haven't looked that far ahead.

technically it is a centralized match process, meaning you do have to register for the match, submit your ROL, and wait for match day, etc. there are many programs that go outside the match, at least for some spots.

apply end of summer, interview early-mid fall, rank in december, match in january.

im glad to finally see someone else interested in child ... maranatha and i have been the sole posters on here recently 🙂

😕 I thought everyone who interviewed for psychiatry really wanted to go into CAP? Where'd they all go? 🙄

troof. We've already had a casualty or two in our intern class (originally 9/12 wanted to go into it lol)

I actually like working with teenagers.
