Location, location, location. Go where you want to live/practice. I wasted time interviewing a bunch of programs just to not rank any of them because I decided wanted to stay with my friends (basically family) at my current program. I felt like I was "supposed" to interview at other places. Unless you are deep into academics, just go do fellowship where you want to be.

I agree, location is the one of the most important aspects for me. Do you think CAP has become more competitive recently? It seems like many programs fill internally and have less positions to offer in the match.

A good number of programs, including big names like Mayo, filled internally for this upcoming cycle. In terms of criteria, I personally would also prefer to go to a place without a lot of driving (or at least fairly centralized in terms of sites or ease of public transport) while having decent exposure. All those programs seem to be in the North East, wish there were more programs like that else where too

Driving a bit for a much different learning experience is 100% worth it IMO. Coming from someone who was significantly in debt in fellowship and literally rented a car once a week to go to a site 40 miles away then return it that evening, it was completely worth it. Really recommend against using that to decide on where you train.

Do you know which programs have filled internally?

No, not any more than usual. You can get into big name places if you apply broadly enough. Just depends on how much they fill internally. The one I wanted to go to happened to fill 4/5 slots internally and I didn't get to go. -_-

I unfortunately have medical issue preventing driving :/ so any suggestions of programs with fairly close-by sites (NY, Boston is doable I hear, but also open to other suggestions,

Well that makes a lot of sense, completely disregard what I said then!

Hi all,

Anyone know anything about USC/LAC's program apart from their website? I can't find much anywhere else, or know anyone who knows.

So apparently my medical school uploaded an incorrect form of the MSPE and they had to re-upload it on Friday, so how will this affect my application since it takes 5 days to process and by that point itll probably be July 17/18th, 1-2 days after programs can start reviewing the apps. When I'm going to apply to programs on ERAS, I can still click the MSPE button, so maybe the apps will receive the wrong form and my application will be shown as complete? Or will it be shown as incomplete on the fellowship's end? If anyone can offer any insight that'll be so helpful, thanks!

If you can still assign the MSPE to schools, I believe programs will see your app as complete on July 16th.

How do we find out which programs have filled internally?
When you look up a program on ERAS to add to the list, if they are not showing up, that means they have either prematched or not accepting applicants for other reasons. The excel sheet above has already been updated for some of the programs as "Prematched for 2025" Of note, there are 158 child fellowships, and ERAS only has 123 listed. So 35 programs are currently not in the running for whatever reason.

Looks like one of my letters is going to be late 🫠 In this case, are folks still submitting and then emailing programs after it’s uploaded?

How late will it be? If it is going to be into next week, prolly makes sense to email programs. Couple days within deadline, maybe you will be okay. But use your best judgement of course, it wont hurt to email.

It was submitted earlier today for processing so I’m hoping by the end of the week! We’ll see if it takes a little longer since it’s the week everything happens

ive seen on reddit that people have recommended just submitting your app so they're aware of your app, and then just email the programs to let them know that the letter has been uploaded

For those starting to get interviews here is the format past years have used

Case Western Reserve in Cleveland has filled all their positions. Would have been nice to know this a week ago, don't they know applications cost money?

Just consolidating for ease.

my 4th LOR was uploaded today so i assigned it to all the programs i applied to. Do i need to reach out to individual programs letting them know it was uploaded?

Mine was uploaded yesterday and I sent an email to all the coordinators letting them know

Not sure if this is significantly different from residency match, but the same thing happened to me for residency. I got an e-mail around 8:30 am the Monday programs received profiles from a program I applied to that they had another students MSPE attached to my profile. I called my med school and they profusely apologized and re-uploaded my MSPE in about 5 minutes. Within the hour I got an updated e-mail from that same program saying they then had the correct letter.

Unfortunately this happens, but if the process is similar to the primary residency match this is probably NBD and easily corrected. I ended up getting 9 ii's for residency including the program that e-mailed me about the mistake.
