Could anyone please tell me the job market between these two kinds of pharmacists? Thx

sterile compounding is a niche, I know several people that do it. You can make a good living because you get the chance of a lot on-call pay, but then again, you are on call. It is probably a little boring, but you generally are never hurried or rushed. You might pigeon hole yourself into a fairly small profession thou.

Retail - well, spend a hour reading threads here and you will know what you need to know about that

I want to be a pharmacist for a compounding pharmacy after I graduate. I don't think I want to go the retail route. The pharmacists at the compounding pharmacy I used to work at, and now intern at, don't make as much as retail pharmacists do. They make roughly 80k a year starting. But the pharmacy doesn't deal with insurance, all pt's pay cash but are offered a universal claim form. And the pharmacy ships scripts all over the country so its mostly dealing with pt's on the phone and not so much in person. The techs do all the compounding, pharmacists just have to check their work. Pharmacy closes at 6pm M-F. They never have to work weekends. They get 3 weeks vacay a year starting, and it goes up after a few years.

To me, 80k is more than enough to live a very comfortable life. And having a stress free career is worth the 20-30k salary reduction.

Honestly sounds a little boring. The best part of compounding is actually getting in there and doing the work if you ask me.
