Anyone have a good vendor for the above. PSS is selling 2.2 by 18 with gel and rubberbands for $5. The 3.5 by 12 is $4.

Seems like highway robbery for basically a plastic bag as the gel is $1 a packet.

Thanks!

I guess I dont have to use a sterile probe sheath for joint injections but seems like Id be hosed if I had an infection.

PMR-you do quite a number of hip injections with US I believe. Do you do them "clean" or sterile?

I do it clean. Leaning toward asceptic as much as possible - sterile probe cover, betadine gel, betadine prep. I mostly use the cover to protect it from the betadine staining it and drying it out, and to protect the pt from any critters growing on the probe from other doc's use.

we do sterile probe cover, sterile gel, chlorhex scrub, sterile gloves, occasionally sterile towels, etc. This is probably because we're a training institution teaching residents without much experience yet who are sliding the probe all over the place initially.

I do think most people leave here and continue to do it this way though.
