Can one of you smart students help explain to me, how exactly does steroids and alcohol cause depression and other ill-side effects amongst its users?
I have a family member who is on steroids and is also an alcoholic... and I would like to explain to him what exactly these drugs are doing to his body.

I know the common side-effects of alcohol and steroids, so please don't waste your time telling me: steroids causes cancer or it can shrink your sexual organs, yadda yadda. I would just like to know how these drugs affect the brain and cause the depression, roid rage, etc... Any info you can share would be great- Thanks!

Honestly, with proper usage, including the use of during and post cycle supplement use, it is very possible to use steroids with minimal side effects. There are many dedicated message boards where you can hear a lot of input from steroid and prohormone users who achieved the results that they desired and kept their testicle size in check and their bodies cancer free. The important thing is to follow the proper directions and don't gobble this stuff down like tic-tac's. People do blood tests, doctor check ups, etc. and often the "successful" users that use steroids are once that take a very close and careful approach to it, almost like self "lab testing" approach to it...

One the main things that steroids do is increase your testosterone, so with the higher quantity you might be increasing the effects that attributed to testosterone it self.

So something like the "steroid rage" might just be because of, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16928375

As for the alcohol use, I personally don't know much there, but alcohol is almost never good for you, especially if you are using supplements, medications, etc. So I am going to assume that's why it wouldn't be a good idea to be using alcohol and stuff that has such a direct impact on the body as steroids often are.

If you want to improve you point just wikipedia it,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anabolic_steroid#Adverse_effects
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Testosterone#Physiological_effects

And look through the sources you will find a lot of stuff supported by publications of pubmed.

Regardless, use of steroid use can be done effectively, however, I doubt we can trust an alcoholic to be a responsible user.
