Hi, I'm about to finish my first year at Mississippi State and am getting ready to buy a stethoscope. Can anyone advise me on what kind to get. Several people in my class are getting RenLor scopes which are a lot like Ultrascope but I've heard conflicting stories about the quality of these. I was going to get a Littman Cardio III but now I'm not so sure. Please Help

Welch Allyn Harvey Elite.

On eBay for less than $100 if you keep an eye out. In my opinion, it blows the Littman away. Hervey Deluxe is slightly better, but not really worth the premium.

There are a couple really good discussions about Stethoscopes on VIN, it seems to me that the Welch Allyn Harvey Elite is a really good scope, most say it is better than the Littman. I have read mixed reports about the Ultrascope. I am going to get the Welch Allyn when the time comes that I need one.

I have a Harvey Elite and love it, but I haven't done a side-by-side comparison with a Littmann, so I can't really say whether it's better or worse than other scopes. I've never had a problem hearing things with my scope 🙂

Also there's 4 or 5 previous threads on stethoscopes in the vet and prevet forums, you might have a look at those.
