My secondary applications were complete in the middle of November. But I still did not hear anything from these schools:
Tufts
Columbia
Iowa
Colorado
Drexel
Boston

They all sent me the notification about my file being completed, but nothing else since then. Does it mean it is over???

It's easy to get pessimistic, but you have to remember it's not over till they send that rejection letter.

Hey, I'm also waiting for something from a few of those schools and a couple others...what I heard from Oregon today, when I called, is that I am not on the likely-to-accept pool (they worded it somewhat differently; I don't remember). We may never hear from some of them. If any of those are high on your list, try giving them a call.

still waiting from Tufts ... when I emailed them, here is what I got

"The review process at a rolling admissions school can be quite long sometimes. If you would like
more information please visit our website and go to the time line link. That
should help you better understand the Tufts Admissions process. Thank you for
your interest in our school."

tufts, lol, havent heard from them in a LONG TIME. every time i call there is no one to answer and im on hold for a year, and i never get a email back lol. they're running away from me!!!!!

If you have had anything worhtwhile happen to you since you initially submitted your application, send that information to any schools who you have not heard from. If you had a good semester, send them an unofficial copy of your updated transcript. If you have gotten any awards or any new extracurriculars, send that to them. At a very minimum, they know you are still interested and will take the time to pull out your file to add the new info.

I am a colo resident and haven't heard anything from Univ CO! I also know of two others who were Aug MCATers and therefore complete end of Oct/begin of Nov who haven't heard a single word. Interestingly enough, I know of two people who applied like the second week AAMCAS was available, and they got contacted in August for Nov 22 interview dates. Seems like Colo is veeeeeery slow this year.

I was complete beginning of Nov for all schools and haven't heard much of anything. I got a couple of rejections but haven't heard from 8 others yet. I've been hearing lots about seats being filled already, and by the med schools' own admission late applications often vie for waitlist seats. How about a complete overhaul of the process? Something like a cap of 10 schools to apply to, deadlines of November 15 or December 1 for secondaries and NO interview invites until after the deadline? Seems that way everyone has a reasonable chance. But then I'm also in favor of not having race, sex, or age on any applications. I think people ought to stand on their own merits, not to fill a quota.

I don't think matters too much if you haven't heard anything. I haven't heard a peep from Iowa (MD and MD/PhD) or Colorado med. I spoke with someone I know at Iowa and their committees are still meeting.

Warning: Brace yourself for Colorado though. I got a rejection from their MSTP and it was downright rude (even though they were almost twice as expensive as any other MD/PhD app). Don't feel too bad. I got a Harvard interview, so I think everyone just picks names out of a hat anyways.

I finished apps in early October but I also haven't heard from:
MD/PhD at Vandy, U Penn, Iowa, UC San Diego, Mayo
or
MD at Michigan, Chapel Hill, Duke

Go figure. :luck:

I haven't heard from Columbia, Harvard, Vermont, and Stanford. I'm really nervous about Harvard, another thread said that Harvard's last invites are going out by next week. 😱

And Vermont used to be my top choice, but I haven't heard a peep from them. I called Columbia at one point and they said my file was still in review. And we all know how pokey Stanford is. I only have two years of research experience, there's no way I'M Stanford material...

I look forward to March 15 when all the school's have to let us know. No matter what.

How do you figure? I have not heard of any policy requiring medical schools to inform applicants of their status by any particular date. All I know for sure about March 15 is that all medical schools are required to have accepted enough applicants to fill their class by this date (though many still interview to build a waitlist). As a re-applicant myself, I recall receiving rejection letters up until even May.

Tufts: They take their time. I've heard from several people that Tufts moves very slowly. They were the last school to tell me I was complete (via a form with handwritten notes - maybe this is why they're so slow?) and I expect they'll be active for a while yet.

Drexel: I've heard they interview throughout March, so there's hope there as well.

The Rest: I have no idea. Sorry. Columbia just switched to the AMCAS application so things might be different for them this year. How? I have no idea.

There are some significant new extracurriculars that I've become involved in -- do you think I should email them, or send them a type written letter by snail mail?

And btw, I'm still waiting to hear from 10+ schools (Tufts, Columbia, U Chicago, Wash U, Albert Einstein, etc.) and I've been complete since end of October. I've heard that Tufts is outrageously slow though, so there *may* still be hope? I also just got an invite today, so they're still happening...
