Do any schools give out stipends (in addition to scholarships) to help with living expenses?

I am not aware of any dental school giving out scholarships to cover stipends. I think they have hard enough time in awarding scholarships for tuition.

However, some of your living expenses is included in your total cost of attendance and you can get a loan upto this amount. 😀

I know UConn and OSU give out pretty good tuition/fee scholarships and I was wondering if any school gave covered living expenses as well. Thanks alot though!

i have never heard of them giving out stipends....are you talking about free money (scholarship) or living expense monies allocated via loans?...

Monies for living expenses in addition to tuition expenses. I just want to see if I should go ahead and accept Uconn's scholarship offer (full tuition and fees) or try for a scholarship that included a stipend for living expenses (if that's even reasonable).

omg... first of all let me start by saying... CONGRATS!! you should be relaly proud for that amazing scholarship... to your question one of my best friends got a tution and fees, books, and small living stipend (500/month) of free money from a midwestern school... this was last year so she is in her first year now... i would NOT wait though because those are sooo rare and so few and far between... if you really like uconn take it and work your little booty off on weekends bartending or something and banking a ton of cash... just so that you can have something saved for living... gl on your decision... 🙂

dude, go with the full tuition and fees....are you kidding me? where is this scholarship that includes a stipend for living expenses coming from? have they informed you that they have this available? have they told you that you qualify? is this a school that gives out this scholarship after you tell them you are attending or do they allocate these monies w/ an acceptance letter? ( i ask this b/c all mine were included with my acceptance letter), have you compared the cost of full tuition and fees versus the living expenses thing you are talking about?...

i cannot see living expenses being comparable to full tuition and fees....living expenses can be modified based on an individual's need but full tuition and fees cannot be modified by you...

I have not heard of any stipends offered to dental students, only to incoming residents. Congrats on a great scholarship offer from UConn. Take it!!👍

I'm sorry for being unreasonable. I'm going to accept the offer

i've never even heard of stipends period....do tell...

Some specialty programs offer stipends, a form of payment while you train under their program. As a general dentist you'll be paid while becoming a specialist.

Take that scholarship! Congrats that's amazing to have.

thanks a lot to all for the help and well-wishes 🙂

oh, i thought those programs are post-dds...aren't they graduate dental programs?

Yes they are post-dds/dmd...graduate programs. They receive stipends, dds students do not get a stipend. A stipend is a paid position.
