Overall GPA 3.3 or 3.4. Pre-req 3 (but am still taking a couple). Over 200 hours in OT and hundreds in other volunteer positions.

I was interviewed and subsequently wait listed last year. The interview process lasted about 4 hours in total but a lot of that was just waiting around. There were about 30 of us so the interviews were staggered based on who your interviewer was. Each interview consisted of an OT faculty member accompanied by another health sciences faculty member. The questions are exactly what you would expect, why SBU, why OT etc. My first interview went very according to schedule and was strictly led by a series of questions they had on a paper...they basically were firing off questions one by one. My second interview was much more organic and fluid. As soon as your interviews were done it was over. It was mostly just waiting before and in between. There were a few students who came in to talk to us about the program and the curriculum which was nice. You were also given a sample schedule and other reading materials as well as a sheet of paper identifying any outstanding materials you needed to submit.

The interview request for this year was a little different than last year in that it says there is only 1 interview. The email from last year specifically said there were 2 so maybe they changed that.

I really did. I felt like they were an organized group, small but organized. I got SO lost walking through the building...its the hospital and you know how confusing hospitals can be LOL. I actually stumbled into an office which happened to be the Fieldwork Coordinator and coincidentally one of the people who would later interview me. But the facility was new and nice and the professors I spoke with were very knowledgeable. Also, the director of the program was there for it all and did her very best to ensure everyone felt relaxed and comfortable. They put play-do and markers and other fun stuff out on the tables to fiddle with so that you could get your nervousness out. I also liked that they gave out a sample schedule as SBU does not work off of a normal semester schedule. The program runs on modules which is how they are able to squeeze in 130ish credits into 3 years.
