Stony brook interview

Hey guys, I have just received my first interview invite...but really to my great surprise. I submitted my application on AADSAS, sept 29th, and i got a call for an interview at stony brook next thurs, Nov 13th.

I was really expecting to get an interview at earliest, in Jan. and Feb. My stats are not phenomenal either. I have a 3.5 overall, 3.71 non-sci, and 3.5 sci gpa. My DAT's are ave too. anyways, i really think i got an interview cuz I'm from ny state. Thats my only explanation.

My question is: can anyone share their experience at stony brook if they interviewed there? I'm not sure if i remember correctly but I think i read a thread where they said stony asks you to write an essay...I may be mistaken. Also, what happens on interview day. They said the day would go from 9:30- 2...so do I interview with multiple people.

Also, what are some of the questions they asked you besides why you want to become a dentists? Please help and share. Appreciate it guys.

I interviewed there in early October and had an unbelievable experience. No essay. We all introduced ourselves and then the dean of admissions spoke for about an hour with questions along hte way, and was very informative and not in the very bit boring. Then financial aid spoke then a tour for about 45 min and then interviews you know the typical questions and then lunch with older students and have a good day by 2.

I interviewed there on Friday and loved it. The facilities were great and everyone was very friendly. The interview itself was very easy so dont fret.
no difficult questions..not even why i wanted to be a dentist..

hey plopper, what do u think our chances are for an acceptance with this interview invite? i hear first round interviews is about 50%, but reading another thread somewhere on SDN, it says theres a 3/1 interview to acceptance ration for instate interviewees.

well I'm actually out of state so the numbers last year were 26% of out of staters accepted. I'm not sure what the percentage was for instate

In any case I'm not sure how good my chances are

haha i have to say mine was as well..however i still loved the school and don't think that alone would be much of a factor
