I called the admissions office,(last week) to see if there had been any movement on the waitlist. The person who answered the phone said that although many people dropped their acceptances, there were still not enough drops to reach the waitlist, and that they will probably reach the waitlist in a few weeks.
( remember, SB accepts about 200,for a class of 100, so I guess there were still not 100 people who dropped out).

(Another time I called, the director told me that usually about 25% of the class come from the waitlist, but that number is getting smaller.....)

Good luck 🙂

Hang in there, and good luck.

Many in my first year class got in off the WL. Some didn't hear until late June or July.

Good luck.

Hey everyone,

I'm in the same boat with those of you who are still waiting!
From what I was told by a friend, he was told directly that
half of one of the past entering classes came off the waiting list.
In addition, Stony Brook may be waiting (like other schools) for
the end of this week when they are officially allowed to drop
students who are still holding multiple acceptances.

Good luck to everyone! I will keep you updated if I hear anything.

i will cross my fingers for both of us. yeah. let's keep in touch

mp457, we can definitely keep in touch. Another week comes to an end and nothing yet. Since a friend of mind just got his call 2 days ago from a different school, it gives me hope that mine might be coming soon. I don't know, but it's nice to imagine.....

I'm crossing my fingers for you guys. A good amount of ppl do get in off the waitlist of SB. Probably not as much movement as the other SUNYs but definetly a significant amount. I think that SB's waitlist starts to move more in mid-june to early july. 👍

Hey everyone. I just called SB and was told once again that the waitlist has begun to move. Has anyone been contacted? Have you accepted? Declined? Thanks for the info.

Zero2hero I see youve been accepted at a number of places. Have you decided where you will go?
I decided on Einstein but the cost is still crazy compared to SUNYs. Still waiting on the Stony decision.

Cool. Good luck.

So i was just wondering, how come StonyBrook class (waitlist, etc) threads never are that popular on SDN. I always see SUNY Buffalo, Downstate, Upstate class waitlist threads that have like 5 pages!! Sorry, just got too much time now that i'm done and starting to think crazy.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm hoping that its because there aren't many people on the waitlist. I guess we'll see though.

Me thinks that is the reason....They interview 500 ppl, from which 200 are accepted....say they reject 200....that leaves 100 for the waitlist..(unless they dont reject post-interview?)

I hope that means the list is shorter! I guess you never can tell. Nothing here to report either.

Just a general question to everyone....what do you plan to do while you wait?

I'm a non-traditional student....So, I intend on working until I find out what's going on.

I think I'm going to cry. This is the second time I've been waitlisted at SB. I think SB would be a great school for anyone, and and perfect fit for me. Good luck to all!

Thanks for the encouragement mp457! 🙂

It's been a rough time at work in addition to this waiting....
I guess I've just got to walk around longer with my fingers crossed! 👎

just to bump the thread up to the top. i am starting to lose hope. maybe i should call and ask...right?

Hey guys,

I just withdrew from Stony Brook. I hope my spot goes to one of you guys 🙂

Best of luck! :luck:

Hey CuddlyKumquat,

Thanks for opening up another spot! Good luck wherever you have chosen to go.

mp457,
I totally understand how you feel. I'll give you the same advice that has been given to me countless times....ask questions only if you're ready for an answer. Good luck, and keep me posted!

Just to let everyone know.....

The admissions office verified for me that the list is in fact still moving (although it's hard to believe sometimes.)

Good luck to everyone this month!

thanks dr.pinky as always 😍

To my neighboring med school...good luck you guys! I live like 15 minutes from Stony Brook. I really wanted to go to NYCOM in Old Westbury (about 35 minutes west of SBU) and I was waitlisted. I wrote the dean of admissions a letter saying how much I wanted to go there and why it's a good school for me. I put on a suit and hand delivered her the letter out of desperation. That was June 1st. About a week later I recieved a letter from her dated June 2nd saying that I have been taken off of the waitlist. Who knows if my letter put me over the top, but it may be worth a try for some of you. Good luck to all my fellow Long Islanders!!
