I have a question. I get into the undergraduate program in Stony brook and I want to go to the dental school there will I have some sort of first choice thing. So if do good in their undergraduate program can I automatically qualify for the dental school. I still 2 more years till college.

Depends on your school. Since it's a state school, preference is given to NY residents, but doesn't give you preference because you went to undergrad there. Ask the dean of admissions, probably tell you the same thing.

They allegedly don't take preference for their own and there is no gaurantee that you will be in just because you go to their undergrad. I agree, talk to Dr. Cinotti and she what she thinks of your application. You will probably get some good pointers, but she will definitely NOT tell you if you are 100% in or not. Just do the best you can on your classes and DATs, and do some shadowing and some other good extra curriculars. Those are usually key things for dental school admission.

the class size at the dental school is 39 students. each year, there are about 8 applicants from main campus accepted. you are not automatically in when you are an undergrad at stony brook. you need to show a competitive gpa, dat scores, and resume. the good thing about being an undergrad at stony brook, you get to volunteer at the dental school, i.e. observe the residents. this way you get a good idea what the school is like and whether or not dentistry is really for you.
