Does anybody know the breakdown of how many applicants where from in-state/out of state in previous years?

since they are both SUNY schools...they will probably have more of a in state appeal...sorry...i really dont know the stats off the top of my mind...

anyone else.

I know that Buffalo accepts A LOT more out of state applicants than Stonybrook does.
In fact, I heard that it's near impossible to get into Stony if you're out of state. Heck, I'm in-state and I didn't even get an interview.

i didn't apply to stony brook but i applied out of state last year to buffalo and got in. my friends in school said that stony brook only takes like 1 to 3 students a year who are out of state whereas at buffalo i think we have 20 something which makes up around a third of our class. so if you're out of state you probably have a better chance at buffalo

Yeah I assumed that myself. I am guessing that in staters get preferential treatment in regards to admission, but I have not located anything on either of their websites that states this is official policy (unlike other state schools). Anyway I myself am an in stater, and I am assuming that you either have or will be applying to both of these schools also so good luck in the admissions process.

If you don't mind me asking when did you apply and what are your stats?

AADSAS sent out my app on 9/27, although I submitted them on 8/1. My GPA is ~3.2 and my DAT was 23/21/17. I also have a master's degree in microbio. I got an interview offer from Buffalo but nothing from Stony.

I don't know about total number of instate applicants but here are other stats of the schools from last year:

Stony Brook:
Number of Applicants 839
Number of Seats 39
Accepted: In State/Out of State 35 / 4
DAT 20
PAT 17.6
GPA overall 3.6
GPA Science 3.6

Buffalo:

Number of Applicants 1,308
Number of Seats 85
In State/Out of State 57 / 28
DAT 19.36
PAT 17.54
GPA overall 3.51
GPA Science 3.43
