do a search this topic has benn discussed recently.

It seems like EVERYONE is still waiting for Stony Brook... I got the same thing and I interviewed in SEPTEMBER.. actually as an OUT OF STATER you have a GREAT SHOT they changed their policy this year and they HAVE TO MATRICULATE a certain amnt of out of staters... new policy.. you are lucky, you may stil have a SHOT!

I called today and still "no decision". Anybody from out of state get a response yet? Any idea on how many spots left?

If it's of any help, I am an in stater, interviewed in December, and finally got a response a couple of weeks ago. I got in, which is nice, but since it's so late in the game I already have plans made. Maybe they just don't tell people they are on a waiting list? I dunno.

William.. congrats on getting in.mind if I Ask your stats?. did you hear by a phone call or by mail? I am starting to believe that "no decision" is a waiting list that we don't know about. Did you turn them down already?
I am still waiting.. but it's getting late.. And this whole "out of state" thing is driving me nuts because they have never done it before..

I'm in the same situation. I'm from Georgia. I interviewed at Stony Brook in early January, but have not heard anything. I feel like we're on a waiting list but they just don't want to tell us. This sux because SB is my first choice and I really hope I get in there. I'm not sure when we're gonna hear from them though.

dont lose hope guys! 👍

Well.. being that you are from GEorgia.. you have a GREAT CHANCE this year.. they want out of staters more than ever.. it used to maybe 1 out of stater per class..now it's 10-15.. you applied in the right year.. I didn't realize that being a New Yorker.. might be a disadvantage HAHA...j/k.. but someone told me that they just stopped interviewing??? So.. good luck all!!!

hey man.. Stay positive. Anything is still possible. Know that no matter what happens you WILL still be attending school in a few months.

I still have my fingers crossed for you. 🙂

bump bump bump.. anyone hear anything from them lately... accept? reject?

I still haven't heard anything. I interviewed in October 🙂

How ironic that there are so many out of staters this year! I heard that they were very strict about out of state applicants, so I applied for residency about a year ago just so that I would have a chance to get in! Guess that may have worked against me! oh the irony. Good thing I got into CU. . .

I know.. I thought living in New York would be the best thing for me when it came to Stony Brook... guess not.. I just feel like I want to know either way.. I have my acceptance to UMDNJ but I just want to know so I am not hanging on anymore.. wish they would tell me one way or another

You know what, I have kicked myself for not applying to UMDNJ. it is an awesome school and for a very good price. WHat i didn't realize before is that the dental campuses are in Newark (right?) so it is MUCH closer to the city than Stony Brook. SB is like 1.5 hours away. UMDNJ is like 15 minutes away. That is just as close (to the good part of NY) as I will be going to CU.

I am soooo glad that I was told to apply to N.J. I was told about their new facilities and their great clinical reputation and thought.. let me give it a try and then when I went to visit.. I WAS SOOOO IMPRESSED!!!!
If I don't get into stony brook.. I am thrilled to be attending UMDNJ... but I just wonder why SB is sooo slow this year.

I just want to hear either way. I've gotten into NYU, but would prefer to be at Stony Brook because of the costs and the class size. I'm just sick of not knowing where I'm going to be in a couple of months...If anyone else who's been waiting for a while hears back from SB, can you please let me know? Thanks and good luck!

Same here.. if anyone hears who has been waiting forever.. like myself.. send me a private message or an e mail at [email protected]... I really want to know either way at this point. It's April and the waiting is getting harder and harder.

Yea, during the interview (beginning of Nov '04) the dean of the dental school came in and told us that a "suggestion" was made by the president of the university to increase the number of out of staters... and of course they have to listen to the boss. He said starting this year they're planning on quickly raising the number of students.

The suggestion of increasing the number of out of staters is due to the fact that Stony Brook is going to be a private institution and is going ivy League.

hey L,

That's news to me. Where did you hear that??

To a previous poster,

When I had my interview, I was basically told that as an out-of-state student I had little or no chance of acceptance. I guess he wasn't in on the new policy yet.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear

umm... no.

Ivy League: schools of the Ivy League, originally a sports organization.

SB: not in the Ivy League. Therefor, will not be Ivy League and CANNOT be Ivy League.

Whatever, that's just what I heard. I don't know whether if it's true or not.

if anyone is ******ed enough to have taken SB going Ivy League seriously... message me about a great land and gold transfer deal in Nigeria where for only a $3 thousand brokerage fee I will get $27 million deposited directly into your checking account! : )
