hey
the interview was not bad at all... just asked the typical "why dentistry" "why stony brook?" kind of questions. They were very nice. Interviews are after the tour and before lunch with the students! dont stress!

When I interviewed at Columbia this past Sep 30. In the group there was a Korean international student (male) with DAT AA 25. He already interviewed with Stony Brook before Sep 30. So you can see the NY state school is interested in "the other" students with exceptional performances.
LOL. In my entire academic carreer, the stiffest competition will be among the Asians in my class. Just look at the ratio of asians in New York's elite high schools. Search Stuyvesant high school in wikipedia, freaking 50 percent asian.wjrmonkey said:When I interviewed at Columbia this past Sep 30. I'm a Stony Brook dental student. Let me know if you have any questions about the school.
Good luck on your interviews
Hey Rockin! Awesome to have someone helping us out! 🙂
Do you guys have a good clinical department? And is it hard for you to find patients? I know the surrounding area is a little suburban. What do you think of it? Are you happy there?
THanks! 😀

I am a first year and will not be seeing patients in clinic till sometime in second year.
The clinics seem very nice and modern. About the only thing that is modern around here.
But as far as I can tell there are enough patients here -- the waiting room always seems pretty busy. Then again we are mostly at the hospital during first year and only at the d-school one or 2 days a week. I havent heard too many complaints from the 3 and 4th years about it.
So far I like it here. A boat load of work but I guess that's anywhere. Most profs seem nice and my class is pretty cool as well.
The area is suburban, but there are places to go and have fun. Port Jeffereson is a nice place to go out.
