Jacobi had a great feel. The people are very close and it seems like a wonderful environment. There is a strong emphasis on teaching and knowing the teachers well. The hospital that is there now is not so nice. It could pass for a hospital in a developing country, although with better resources. However, a new hospital will open by the time our class would enter. It looked beautiful from the pictures, but we couldn't tour it (it is already finished). There is great EM/trauma, but only a few subspecialty docs in each division. The residents have a great deal of autonomy. A negative is the location in the bronx- a good part of the bronx, but not manhattan. The patient population is fantastic if you like diversity and helping the poor. Overall, I was very impressed.
