Story of a third time applicant

necro bump:
This is for all the applicants facing disappointment this season.

I reapplied three times and I am now a happy PGY3 internal medicine resident who will be working as a hospitalist next year. It was all worth it in the end and I was so foolish back in the days.

Looking back, I am happy that I was rejected so many times before applying. I was way too immature and underdeveloped to have succeeded in medical school if I got in on my first try. The extra years off helped me grow -- and I needed it based on where I was. If you don't get in this cycle, it is not the end of the world. Use that time to become a better person so that you can be a better doctor in the future.

Would you mind commenting on what you thought the weaknesses were on your application the first two times?

Also, if you don’t mind me asking, you mentioned that you didn’t have a job during your app cycles and you graduated already. So..... what did you do all day?
