OK, I have kind of a strange financial situation. I am planning on starting the application process to dental school next year. I was reading the materials that my school has for pre-health science students when I saw something rather upsetting. "Students with an adverse credit history may find that an acceptance to a health professional school can be recinded if the school finds out that loans can not be attained." I declared bankruptcy several years ago (2000), due to large medical bills. Here is where my situation gets strange. A relative recently passed away leaving me a large enough sum of money to pay for a private dental school outright. Even with this amount of money, will I still have my bankruptcy held against me?

When I was applying to school a few years ago..I recall seeing that on some of the applications...but have never heard of someone being denied admission due to an adverse credit hx....

If you want to be proactive....you can call the schools and explain the situation, and see what they say....

Hope this helps...

i would imagine that the admission people won't look at it....getting in won't be a problem. Where you probably would find a glitch is in the paper work that follows being accepted (ie:transcripts, health record, FA info)
The good thing is that if you have the money you won't need the big loans to fund your education.....with that, i imagine you won't have any problem whatsoever.
