hey guys,

I've been studying for the dat, and I am currently having some trouble with ranking angle questions. For those of you who performed well on this section of PAT, what strategies did you use? I would appreciate your input. Thank you!

I was pretty good at just by sight angle ranking on kaplan and barons, but the real test (and topscore somewhat) it was more challenging. I did 3 things on the practice tests (and the DAT) that helped. 1. Imagine the line extending out past where it does when you are given a short leg, if you cant, extend it physically with your finger. 2. Similar idea...i actually sat there during the DAT exam lining up the angles with my fingers and turning them to fit all the other angles...i probably looked pretty silly, but nobody said anything, and they watch you like a hawk. and 3. Def take the first 2 angles and determine which is smaller on the more difficult ones, then move onto the 3rd and compare the angle of the smaller one with that angle and move on to the 4th and so on. This takes a lot of time, and you dont want to spend much on angle ranking, but if you really have a hard time with one in specific and you dont just want to guess, i would recommend that method.

first find the smallest angle

then find the largest angle

then eliminate choices and go from there

good luck.

Unless your human protractor, that's pretty much all you can do! Tough section!

Even if you practice a bunch, the angle ranking section is nearly impossible on the real test, especially if your computer monitor isn't too great.

Good strategy is to make sure you master all of the other sections of the PAT and and just try your best for the angle ranking.
