I have a question.

I applied to the Early Decision program at the Medical College of Georgia.

My stats, 9VR 10BS 10 PS, 3.71 GPA

2 years research experience, 2 publications, about 8 poster presentations
6 months experience in the OR holding retractors, pre- post- op prep, etc., some shadowing stuff as well, 3 physicians in my family so knowing about the medical field is not my downfall.

I thought the interviews went incredibly well.

Got deferred to the regular decision program.....my question is whether or not I should email the two people that interviewed me to ask them what I can do to strengthen my application ? I have no idea why I haven't gotten into my state school..it seems like I'm a perfect cadidate, and everyone has told me this...even my interviewer, the one who sits on the committee said "there isn't any reason we shouldn't take you"... what to do ? what to do ?

Maybe try the MCAT again and break 30? Everything else you have is top notch.

Yeah, that could be an option...although I would prefer to not have to go through that experience again...and everyone who has taken the MCAT can relate. hehe

do another poster presentation! j/k. volunteer at the local humane society. they need people.

do you think i could be blackballed due to my not having Volunteer experience ?

Your stats look pretty good. What about your interview skills? Other possibilities: not broad college courses or interests, too young? Above all, restricting your options to 1 school is not a good idea. You might have been accepted in a number of other schools, but not that one 9for whatever reason they might have).

I would write a LOI, with a serious description of why that school is my top choice. Before, I'd definitely call my interviewer and ask him/her how I could strengthen my application. Good luck!

I think you can call the admissions office or your interviewers and ask how to improve your application, like acab said. Also, if you don't have volunteering experience, while it may be a little late in the game, I think you should try to get some volunteering done, particularly in the medical field (though, I guess it doesn't have to be medical-related). At the very least, you can have something to update your app with.

I just emailed both of my interviewers, asking if there was anything that I can do to improve myself as an applicant...and saying that I'm excited about going to school there...guess I'll find out in a few days. heh

Usually admissions people give you the "do stuff because you like it, not because it looks good to us" BS.

I doubt they will answer your email. they're really just a bunch of azzholes.
I remember getting turned down after an interview or 2. I emailed the person in charge.... the one who had my files.
they just ignored me when I asked how I could improve.
They don't give a shiet about you really.
