Hi this is my first time posting, but I am a junior pre-dent. My gpa is 3.9/3.85 as a biochemistry major. I worked in a research lab for the past year but am considering quitting because the professor I work for is such a jerk. Anyway, this past summer I spent a week with a Nicaraguan mission, where I worked in the dental clinic, I'm a member of Habitat for Humanity, the pre-med/pre-dent society, intramural football and softball captain (if that's even something I should mention to dental schools haha), and employed part time.

Assuming I do above average on my DAT, is this enough to get interviews if I quit the research lab and instead do more shadowing (only 60 hrs done now) or volunteering?

Thank you all!

Do you sleep?

That sounds inhuman. I'm sure you're fine.

geez, you're busy, but you'll be fine. if you've already done research for a year, more research wont be that much of a difference. if you've only done 60 hrs of shadowing, i'd advise you to try and get at least 100 hrs. most schools require 50 hrs, so you can get a little more hrs.

I shadowed for 100 hrs. and had 0 hrs. of research and i've received 4 interview invites. take time to have fun before you have to lock yourself in your room to study for the DATs all day :O(

good luck!

You are fine. Get some shadow hours and keep your grades up and you are set.
