Currently, I am a junior biology major at a university in the midwest and want to be a dentist more than anything in the world. My gpa is 4.0 as I have 68 credits at an A and 2 credits as a P(externship course was P/F). Some of the classes have completed are Gen Bio 1 &2, Gen Chem 1&2, Human A&P 1 &2, Physics 1, Genetics, Calculus, College Algebra, and a bunch of electives. My schedule this semester is OChem & Lab, Women's Studies, Physics 2 & Lab, and Ecology. I am super stressed out with my classes and have been doing terrible in my ecology course. The amount of work is insane and I just can't seem to succeed it in. I will be probably lucking to get a B in it, which makes me sick. What are your guy's thoughts on possibly withdrawing if I know I can't get a good grade. I want an A so bad and am killing myself but I just can't seem to do well and don't know what more I can do. My organic lab has also not been going well as the lab report grading and pre-lab quizzes are ridiculous. I probably spend 8-12 per lab report and am on track to get a B. I honestly don't know what else to do, which is super frustrating and depressing. I would appreciate any advice/opinions as I am super depressed and have a lot of anxiety with the pressure to do well.

you don't have to have a 4.o to get into dental school! i have two B- (gen chem 2 and biochem) and have 7 interviews (and pretty good ones) ! it's ok, one or two bad grades are not going to keep you from getting into dental school!

Bruh. I have D's and I still have interviews. But no. Don't get D's k?

I'm sorry. I am in the same situation except I am failing a class. I'll probably have to withdraw from it, and I already have several W's on my transcript. It's frustrating and discouraging, but keep your head up and stay the course. It'll all work out.

I can understand wanting to maintain such an amazing GPA! But don't lose sight of what classes are about--learning. You can still learn a lot and not make an A in a course. Don't let your mental health suffer because of school and its pressures. Do what you need to do.

Thanks for your guy's advice. It is much appreciated. I guess I am so stressed is because I've never struggled like this in school before and I'm doing everything I can and it is simply not good enough, which is hard to deal with. I want to be a dentist so bad and school is my life, so when I get a bad grade or struggle, it's like I suck at life.

You need to relax...if one tough course is stressing you out this much then you will be hospitalized from anxiety by the end of your first month in Dental School. If you have a 4.0 and are this worried about one course I would say that you might have some self-worth/confidence issues you need to work on. Nobody is perfect and you will get into dental school just as easily with a 3.8 as you will with a 4.0....you will be just fine!!

An additional note: your school performance doesn't dictate your value! Even if that's what you've heard every day of your life, it's totally false. You're worthy!

From what I hear, it's better to go through these feelings now than to be blindsided by them during dental school.

Thanks for the advice. It's bad enough I'm on track to get a B, but the thing that is killing me is that if I continue to slide like I am I will end up with a C and I don't know what more I can do, which is frustrating. I work incredibly hard and am worried my grades are going to continue to slide as I take more difficult classes.

Dank memes aside, a B isn't going to hurt your chances with that many As
hakuna matata!

I have 2 W's, a C-, and took some community college classes where I didn't even get an A in and I have 5 interviews. Chill, yo.
