Hi All,
First thanks for trying to help. I am like most and am trying to make a decision between Vcom and Erie-E. I really like both schools, they seem to be about in the same price, distance from my family, and class size (I chose LPD for Erie E). But I am reviewing everything from each school and had some questions trying to figure out what school is best for me.
Match List:
I was looking at vcoms match list and many students were listed under "Traditional rotating" What does that mean? I thought that you went to residency after school. Is this b/c the school is new? I am not sure.
Erie also gave a match list that was nice b/c some people were matched in my home town but it didn't say if the students were doing a "traditional rotation" or if they went to blah blah blah fot blah blah blah.
Rotations:
How to rotations generally work? For example do you only rotate in the area you wish to match or do you stay one place for a week and move to another. I am asking b/c Erie has rotation sites in my home town in PA, VCOM does not, but I asked a current student and she that some people are able to do their rotations oos. I would like to stick close to home as possible b/c both my dad and brother were in the hospital for months with serious issues therefore If I can, I want to be near them.
DO/Phd:
I was really attracted to VCOM b/c of the DO/Phd program but on my interview day the host student said "It is not that good, many students have a hard time doing the DO/Phd program" Is this something I should take lightly? He was not a DO/Phd student so I was wondering if anyone had any info in regards to it.
Newness:
Ok this is the last thing. Lecom E has been around 12 years, Vcom 5. Do you think that the newness of a school has an effect on the quality of education you receive. I was looking at vcom and noticed that it was not middle states approved but that Erie was. Is this a big issue?
Thank you guys so much in advanced. Please do not put any school down. I am not trying to figure out which one is best in general, only what is best for me. Thank you again and have a great weekend. 🙂
