Strict GPA cut-offs

How strict are gpa cut-offs? I just found out for CSPM that they automatically reject students with a science and accumulative gpas of less than 2.75. My current science gpa is a ~2.71. Will other pod schools automatically reject me, too?

Depends on the school and what their standards are. You might want to e-mail or call admissions at the each school you are interested in...it's the only sure way to find out what they are specifically looking for. Other schools might give you a break if you score above average on the MCAT. It seems to be that the lower your cGPA and sGPA are the higher you have to score on the MCAT to offset that. In my opinion (only an opinion!!!), since you have a below average sGPA...a 21 on the MCAT will not cut it for an acceptance.

Even though you might not be interested in attending Scholl...you might want to post this question in the Scholl thread to see what kind of feedback you would get from The Real Scholl. She could give you some more insight on what you should be looking to do.

I'm in the same boat 😎. Actually, I posted a question very similar to yours in "THE REAL SCHOLL" thread. I'm guessing Mandy (admin rep) will respond sometime early next week. Stay tuned...

Does your GPA have a trend? For example, did really bad at first, but picked it up and did much better junior senior year? Admissions committees takes trends into consideration if that helps at all.

Also, whats your MCAT score? A higher than average MCAT will help offset the lower than average GPA.

- Did you just attend the 3 D Workshop? I was there too!

- 3D workshop was a workshop I attended at CSPM. During the last day they mentioned GPA cutoffs for their program. Dr. Tran who is their top professor and on the ADCOM, said that anybody who had less than 2.75 Cum or sPGA would be automatically rejected from the program with no consideration even with good MCAT score. So, I think they are pretty serious with that standard, but I would contact their admission office just to make sure.
- Get your sGPA and cumGPA >2.75, and from there they will automatically look at your application. Good luck.
