Do many dental students do research (outside of the typically strong research programs i.e. Harvard, Uconn, UCLA, etc.)?

Also, outside of research, what extracurriculars are typical to build a strong CV/resume?

i'm not in denta school yet but.....

many students do research to increase their chances of being accepted to a residency program, the same way you do research in college to better your chances of getting in to med/dent school (to stand out).

some students do a lot research because they enjoy it or want to continue in that path, be a faculty at a dent school.

and i'm sure some don't do any research. this probably applies to students who want to be general dentists.
