Strong enough connection to Texas?

TexasPhysician is right. In my recent experience out on the interview trail, as a general rule, the OOSers were stellar applicants. If you face difficulty getting into a Texas program, I think it will stem more from the highly competitive nature of the limited OOS spots available, rather than an inability to establish ties to the state. However, Houston has two viable options, and BCM in particular has begun to act less partial to residents in recent years. Because it's a private school, BCM doesn't have to adhere to the strict 90% quota like many of the others. Most of the UT schools have somewhere around 20-23 OOS positions available, and I'd venture to say the number at BCM is probably 2-3X that.
