Struggling BS/MD Student

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So you are on your second semester and if you don't ace your physics final you will be below GPA requirements for a second time?

Don't really need any advice other than you better study your ass off. See posts like this all the time on SDN about people who goofed off or slacked the whole semester and think there is some magical advice that will help them ace their final out of nowhere and be saved from their mistakes, but there isn't. Study your ass off and hope you do well.

seek advice from the program head. maybe if you come up with a good story they will give you another chance. demonstrate that you have already changed and are doing everything possible to ace this final. talk to your professor as well. then hope for the best.

Make a backup plan, because it appears you didn't learn your lesson the first time. Contact your school's learning center for help with learning skills, and yoru counseling center for attitude adjustment.

I am a first-year student in an accelerated BS/MD program. I basically have to do three years of undergraduate to earn my BS and if I keep a math and science GPA of 3.5 as well as a overall GPA of 3.5 every semester, I will matriculate into medical school at the end of these three years. I am currently reaching to the end of my second semester. First semester I goofed off and never went to class, and I ended up going under the GPA requirement for my program. Going under the GPA once is actually not a big deal at all, and many of my fellow students in the program also went under. However, going under twice is a completely different matter, one that can potentially get you kicked out of the program. It is quite uncommon to go under twice, for most people adjust well after their first semester, but I am close to going under for a second time this semester. I worked hard in all my classes but got very lazy with physics, which might put me under for a second time, and I really don't know what to do at this point. I need an A on my physics final (which is apparently very difficult) in order to get the grade I need for the class. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

At least you're honest with yourself about where things went wrong. That is a great step in the right direction.

But yes, study your ass off until the final. I would hold off on thinking about backup plans until after the test, since it needs your full attention now.

Stop being entitled and grow up.

This. I have a physics 2 final next week, so I feel your pain. Your school probably has tutoring help, so take advantage of it.

I made this for advice, not snide and useless comments. Thank you to all those who responded with real advice, I will try to grow up and buckle down, and will most definitely study my ass off for this final.

The so called 'snide and useless comments' were spot on. You're at risk of getting kicked out of a guaranteed admission to a medical school because you self describe yourself as too lazy to have your **** together.

Don't half ass it if you really want it. Good luck studying!

The comments may be because this is a non traditional forum which means most members on here are working their tails off just to get into medical school from a different major or alternate career.
Coming in here being what I assume is a traditional student and asking for advice when you are in a position that some on here would give their right arm to be in may be the issue
