I transferred from a community college and got As in Gen Chem/Organic chem.
Transferred to a university and inorganic chemistry kicked my ass, got my first C in life.
Had to drop Biochem, couldn't handle it along with the transition of living on my own for the first time in life considering I grew up a sheltered/coddled life and couldn't even cook breakfast or do laundry.

I'm currently in analytical chemistry and biochem and the analytical chemistry is just way over my head.

My experience with chemistry is this:
Gen Chem - not bad, makes sense
Organic - wow this is fun, let's be a chem major
Inorganic - wow, wtf am i reading??!
Analytical/P Chem - KILL ME NOW, killll meee.

With a Biochem BS, I have to take Analytical, Calc I-IV, P Chem 1/2, Advanced Organic or Advanced Inorganic and another or two advanced chemistry courses.

I'm seriously considering switching to biology to save my gpa.

What do you guys think?

The difference to medical schools whether you apply with a biology degree vs a biochemistry degree is miniscule compared to a good GPA vs a poor(er) GPA.

Apparently a good deal of biochem majors switched to bio in their senior year at my school. So it definitely happens. Do what you think will be most beneficial in the long run.

...I'm actually very confused about why you take analytical/physical. We just had more organic thrown at us.

😕 Analytical and physical chemistry are pretty significant for chemistry majors, but I'll assume you're sarcastic.

I'm actually not. Our second year is the same course schedule as the chems, with analytical and physical ripped out and genetics and molecular bio shoved in.

Admittedly, we have a full course on spectroscopy and another full course on physical biochemistry in our third year, so that may be the difference.
