Anyone try this kit yet since the go live and have feedback?

It did fine. They need to make some of it less flimsy. But it’s ok. Patient is doing well already surprisingly

Sounds like I’ll be sticking with Intracept.

How much did it run you?

Surprisingly because of the kit, or you weren’t sure if the vertebra was the pain generator?

About the same to very slightly less than Intracept/boston. Facility handles that aspect, I am not privy to the exact numbers. However, this is for the single kit with one electrode, one curve, one peek sheath, one trocar. I know they tout the ability to burn multiple levels at the same time… but you will then pay extra for the additional pieces.

their equipment has been good with kyphoplasty…. but I was extremely disappointed with it on bvna with hard bone. It is just much less robust equipment, flimsy curve/J even when fully articulated. Can bend curve easily with your fingers (not the case with Boston or even merrit powercurve). There is about 2 inches of it that extends past the trocar externally when you mallet it the curve/J. I kinked/bent several of them at this location to get through a three level case with hard bone.

The positives were the water cooled component to prevent charring/impedance issues and shorter burn time to reportedly get larger lesion i.e. their minute gets same lesion size as Boston 15.

It can be difficult to predict bone hardness ahead of time. Even in the same person one level can be soft and another very hard. I'll stick with Boston. Running into instrument issues mid case is a nightmare

Have not used it yet for BVNA but I don't like Optablate's externally cooled electrode design. It is a setup for unreliable ablations as there's nothing other than the impedance check making sure you don't create char. I was doing a bipedicular cancer case and playing with the hardware after the case on the back table. One was clogged preventing fluid egress, but the system said it got a great burn. Didn't get followup scans to see but lost faith in that. I have been injecting through it now before I burn to be sure I can manually push but just doesn't feel great

Appreciate the thoughts guys. I’m only going to offer intercept very rarely in the future due to reimbursement. Sounds like I will stick with Boston. I don’t want to deal with that other stuff , and it’s not even really a cheaper kit !

Strykernis 5600...boston is like 7k. Definitely cheaper...

First case yesterday. Used Stryker system. Couldn’t get through L5 pedicle, bent some of the equipment hammering like a mofo. Had to abandon. Was able to get S1 oddly enough but still really hard to hammer through hard bone.

Ugh. That really sucks. Similar to my experience. Rep had to go get an eight gauge introducer, as the 10 just bent too easily in hard bone at a wide angle like this. Granted, my issue was mainly with malleting the curve after vb access.

If you are having trouble getting through the pedicle, Id suggest first confirming you are not docked on the facet joint and can otherwise use a hand drill to create a pilot hole, then put the stylet back in and mallet again.

We’ve been paying Boston $6100 since my first case. They are willing to go down to $5900 due to the new Stryker competition.

Whoever negotiated you $7000 for Boston needs to try harder.
