Hi all, [WARNING: this is really long, please skip if you can't bare]

So…I am really lost. 🙁 Just to briefly describe my situation: I am in my junior year, I transferred a lot my first three years due to my Mom's brain tumor (which thankfully she has recovered from), I got really depressed and my grades suffered, I am at a college near home now and have changed my major from Biology to Health Administration.

Recently, I have been thinking of transferring to my University's larger campus that is about 3+ hours away from home but I am scared that I will get depressed again as my mom is good at guilt tripping.

Well anyways, to get to the point (sorry) I was calculating how many courses I needed to graduate and that is 21 courses without the pre-med requirements. I have 3 semesters left so that means I could take 6 courses each semester and 3 in the summer but that still leaves the pre-med requirements which I have barely scratched a surface of.

I still need to take: the second 1/2 of general chemistry
organic chemistry
the second 1/2 of biology
and physics

I also have been really confused on whether I want to do pre-med or pre-dentistry. (I know I am really pathetic). Lots of people have been looking down on me for being confused and my advisor even told me that if I am unsure between pre-med or pre-dentistry I am unfit for either. 😳

I got accepted to be a scribe so I thought that could help me (some) make a decision. I know I am a really indecisive person and that is not a good trait at all to have but I have really lost my motivation and voice throughout the years and am just trying to find my place again.

My friend is saying I should change my major back to Biology because it is still the same 21 hours left and I could knock out all of my pre-requisites but I can't see myself taking 6 science courses each semester.

If you were a friend or family member, how would you advise me? I really need any and all advice you have.
Thank you for reading and I am truly sorry this is so long, I just wanted to make sure any info needed was shared.

What is your current GPA? Your adviser is a jackass. I would not recommend you taking 6 science courses a semester though... that sounds really rough.

Agreed on both counts. Look into extending the time you are in school, provided that you get good grades. Don't take more than 4 classes if you have a lot of family issues that require time and emotional energy. Either path is a good one, and if you are open to DO, the medicine road may be more of a sure thing than dentistry.

My current GPA is 3.136

That is why I was kind of thinking of escaping to the other campus to get away from family issues but I don't know if that will make things worse.

I'd stay where you are and lessen the course load per semester. Change advisor if you can too. The GPA isn't bad, you do have special circumstances. Maybe retake some courses to strengthen your chances at DO.

Taking 6 courses is suicide. Stay a semester or 2 longer and mix those science classes in. They're tough and require a lot of hard work, but if you do well you should be more confident in yourself and your career path.
