So, I finished a Post-Bac program in May and I've been looking for a job ever since while applying to med school. Because I'm not in a position where I need to have a job for the money I have been picky about where I applied. I looked for jobs where I would get patient contact experience in a hospital or clinic setting. At first I looked for jobs where I did my post-bac but after a couple of months with no income I had to move home where I started searching again. To date, I've had some interviews but no job. The most common reason seems to be that I can't guarantee I'll be around for a year. I've even been told in an interview that I'm overqualified for a job.
Currently, I volunteer as an EMT once a week for 12 hours and mentor 5th graders for three hours a week. I have interviews coming up, starting in December. I'm getting ridiculously bored and I'm concerned that it will seem like I'm sitting around doing nothing. I have been doing some reading from journal articles, books, etc. but I don't have much to show from that. I've also looked into doing research at my undergraduate institution, but I haven't found any opportunities for that either. Does anyone have any suggestions?
