Student Athlete Coach Reference

I am a four year student athlete and am wondering if anyone else here knows if it would be acceptable to include my coach as a reference for PT school. It was the same coach all four years and put in hours upon hours of time working under him. Anything that says you can or can't?

I asked a few schools and they had me put it under the Supervisor/Employer designation. Can be a useful reference but most programs are going to look for Therapists and academic letters...
