Do I need to be doing anything right now to get my student F-1 Visa? I read that international students need to get a letter from his or her bank proving they can pay tuition, books etc for the year no later than one month after acceptance. But I heard that Canadians don't need to do this until they get to the border? I'm confused...Someone help!!

Your school will/should assist you in that process. You will have to prove to the school your ability to pay tuition and have adequate reserves for living. The school will then fill out your F1 form which you can present at the border along with the documentation you presented to the school. At that time, you should in theory get stamped. If you live close to the border however, I recommend you present yourself much earlier than the time you plan to move to school. If there is an issue, and there can be a lot of them when dealing with immigration, you want to find out about it much sooner than later.
