Hey guys,

For the past two years I've been elected by the student body to serve as both Rep. at Large and Treasurer on the campus Student Government Association. I've gotten legislation passed to better things around campus, etc.

I do not get paid for this and am essentially volunteering my time every week writing these resolutions and attending meetings, so does this count as volunteer experience?

It's more of a service-oriented club, but it's also a leadership activity. Write it up!

I'd stick it under leadership too, not so much really "volunteer" work though.

Yeah, leadership or EC, but leadership is more eye-catching, so put it in that category.

Thanks guys. Yeah, my school sucks because we don't get a thing for doing this stuff...except leadership, lol.

Well, I might as well ask this too.

Is being a Resident Assistant considered leadership experience or paid employment? I'd say leadership...

Leadership positions, especially those in student government, are all about developing political and leadership skills, not helping others and the less fortunate. Nothing wrong with that, just don't confuse it with volunteering.
