I feel he is referring to undergraduate and he is right. I could take out a max loan of almost $16k a year for school and that's crazy.

On that note, I bet he would say that about some professional school tuitions. Wink wink.

I agree, I think he might be referring more to undergrad loans. I'm not sure what your implied reference is in your 2nd statement. Are you talking about the cost of dental school and that they should lower the cost?

Yes, some schools are taking advantage of people entering dental school.

Most of us have no concept of paying back loans and the toll they take on your monthly income. They sell you on the idea that you can make loads of money and you happily sign the line on $100k a year tuition. That's taking advantage of naive kids.

If less people can take out loans or less loan money can be taken out --> less people can go to dental school --> dental schools will have to lower tuition so students could attend.

The reason DS is so ridiculously expensive is because the government guarantees the money to pay for it and there are enough young people willing to take on that amount of debt.

I think reducing the amount of money the government will offer would be a great thing for us, the education bubble is going to burst here soon.

Is my republican showing?

This is absolutely correct.

Agreed, the schools are like "Hell, free money!" since you are almost guaranteed a loan which is set up to be the recipients problem after accepting. I honestly think all schools are going to heavy on the tuition increase (maybe the exception of Texas schools, their tuition seems like what the actual price should be) and it is going well beyond inflation rates. Why the hell are schools increasing tuition every single year!?

Because they can, nothing to stop them from doing so. Direct PLUS loans don't have a cap.
Dammit SJV, it was rhetorical! But yes, no one that is profiting from this gives a damn,
