Do leadership positions held while in med school help when applying to residencies? competative residencies?

Well everyone is looking for leadership from highschool to college to medical schools. I'd think it would be a safe bet to assume that residencies would also like some leadership. Thats just my opinion...I don't know for sure. Cheers
