Student Parking- need your comments!!

Agreed about #7.

But, about the survey in general, I think it should include some questions about alternatives to parking. If most students live very close to campus, parking on campus would be silly. Also, if the city has a good bus system, parking on campus may be less of an issue. I don't think you can evaluate the results of the survey (such as determining if your school is better or worse than other schools) if you don't know about what alternatives are available at other schools.

I didn't bother to fill out the survey cause it's irrelevant for my school. We're in a densely urbanized environment. Almost nobody here owns a car. Most students live on the order of .5-2 miles from the medical school and walk or bike. A subway line runs right under campus and there are many buses in addition.

Q 7 is fixed - finally. sorry about that.
My school is really far from urban - so i didn't bother asking about things that didn't apply to us - but good thought.
There are 2 groups of apt.s across the street and all of those students walk. several ride bikes, but in general we are all southern lazy bums who drive our cars to school / work. Our public transportation unfortunately is poor and unreliable so it's not really an effective alternative either. I certainly wish it were. Thanks.

I feel for you Kap. I remember when I was interviewing I went to a number of schools where they told me flat out I'd need a car to live there, but then there was no parking at the school or the parking situation was poor or costly. I gave a heavy ding in my evaluation of those schools based on that.
