i have a three kittens. how should I transport them as I'm moving to another city ?
I've had luck with a medium dog crate in my backseat and a litterbox inside that (my rabbit also goes in there with my cats). All three of them seem much more comfortable with a bathroom in there. My drive is 6 hours. They're still a little scared, but it works.

A dog crate isn't totally safe since they'd bounce around like ping pong balls if I were to crash, but neither are the vast majority of travel options for pets on the market. There are some soft-sided carriers out there that have good ratings if that is a better option for you. If I don't have my two cats physically together (and with a litter box), one of my cats becomes extremely stressed in the car though. We're talking panting the whole time, screaming, and urinating and defecating all over the place. He's comfortable enough to fall asleep in the dog crate. He seriously panics if we take long trips in a cat carrier.

I got this for transporting my two cats, there is a litter box sold separately that goes with it or you can just get disposable ones

I plan to have a separate carrier for bringing them to and from the car as it would be ridiculous to try to carry that thing around, but since it's an 8 hour trip I feel better giving them a little more space plus free access to the litterbox. They do a lot better together than apart as well, the younger one gets very nervous without his big sister 🙂

Oh I love that! I may look into getting it. Unfolding a dog crate on leather seats in the back of a sedan sucks. My friends have a running joke that I need a mom van.

Illinois gives a discount at the vth I think it's 20%. There are also local vets that do the same and I decided to take my cats there. I like and I've become friendly with this vet and I am thinking of doing a rotation at her clinic my4th yyear.

-ugh I just realized this is a necro thread
