I've used the search function extensively and looked through the AMCAS manuals, but cannot find an answer to my question because both letter grades (with asterisks) and a P for pass show.

I'm calculating my AMCAS GPA and I really hope that my study abroad credit will not count. My school directly gives the credit and it is not considered transfer credit because we are affiliated with the program (School for Field Studies, and courses are not taken at a University but a small research center). My transcript shows the letter grades earned with an asterisk but also shows a P for pass and none of the classes are counted towards my GPA. It shows up on my transcript as:

SUBJ No. Course CRED/GRD/PTS R
ABRD 9421 - School for Field Studies 0.00 P 0.00
ABRE 2988 (Class 1) 6.00 B-* 16.20
ABRE 2988 (Class 2) 6.00 B* 18.00
ABRE 2988 (Class 3) 6.00 B* 18.00
ABRE 2988 (Class 4) 6.00 B-* 16.20
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Earned hrs: 24.00, GPA hrs: 0.00, Grade pts: 0.00, GPA: 0.00

Any insight on whether this will count on my AMCAS gpa? My school is on a quarter system and this was a study abroad semester, so these B's and B-'s are really doing a number on my gpa... 2 of the classes were bio, 2 were non-science.

I would think I could list the classes as P/F on my AMCAS, knowing that the "ABRD 9421 - School for Field Studies 0.00 P 0.00" is meant to show that I got a pass for the 4 classes.

If the grade was taken for P/NP, it won't count as towards your GPA. Maybe it showed up because of the nature of the program and the grade you would have earned in the class, had to taken it for a letter grade, is shown merely as a reference.

I would talk to any academic counselor you have to confirm or perhaps your premed committee.

Just call AMCAS, they're pretty helpful on the phone. I had study abroad classes with letter grades count towards my GPA on AMCAS, even though my school only calculated credit transferred and did not count them on my transcript GPA. My classes didn't have pass/fail mentioned anywhere though so your situation is kinda different.

If that's what's on your transcript, I think it reads pretty clearly as 6 units B-, 6 units B, etc. My reading would be without question it was for a grade. The entry above looks like a non-credited "course" (i.e., an entry w/ no associated credits). Many schools use 0-credit Ps to mean you attended a req'd weekly seminar, etc. OP, I don't really think you can say you took these P/F as far as AMCAS is concerned, since your school gave credit and listed the grades.
