I know that in regards to Midwestern, Study Abroad options are available to students in their third and fourth years. (I guess they figure you are too busy in the first two years.)
Anyways, Dr. Page, our dean, just got back a couple weeks ago from a medical tour in Guatemala. On that particular tour, the team was made-up of faculty and local specialty doctors in addition to the student members. Just to give an idea of the impact of that tour made, Dr. Page said that in three days, their team treated ~1500 patients. Of course, these were not all podiatry cases, lots of skin cancer and arthritis. Nevertheless, it was excellent exposure to those that were able to go.
