I've recently decided that I want to study abroad my final semester as an undergrad at UW-Madison. I'm pretty much set on going to Spain (I would love to go to Italy, but its more expensive and I don't have any experience with Italian, but I have had many years of Spanish) but I am torn between programs in Seville and Madrid.

I was curious if anyone that has been abroad to these areas has any input on the differences between the two, or even just what each city is like.

What does this have to do with your preparation for medical school? Perhaps this topic is better suited for the social forums.

I am unaware of a social forum on SDN. I might be wrong, but I can't find it. Also, you don't have to be so condescending. I posted it here because this is where many pre-meds (aka undergrad students) do their posting. If you take a quick look through this forum you will find that many threads are unrelated to medical school prep.

Thanks for the vote haha. Any specific reason?

I do believe that you would get more answers on a social form because this form is for pre-med related things, but since you're here the experience and vibe there was just amazing. Madrid was incredible as well, but Seville was special. Not sure how else to describe it but everyone who has been there that I know agrees, and a friend of mine studied abroad there and had the time of her life. It's a beautiful city.

I'm not familiar with either program, but a girl in my lab had the same dilemma and she picked Sevilla. My PI (who is from Spain) said that the Universidad de Sevilla is an excellent school (I'm sure the one in Madrid is too, she just made it a point to say that). Just make sure you visit Barcelona - it is amazing!!

👍 for Sevilla and Barcelona. Great cities!

OP, we could be of more assistance if you let us know what you are looking for in a study abroad program.

Culture?
Women (or dudes)?
Great school and learning environment?

Most people (including myself) didn't study abroad because we were actually wanting to learn anything. I studied abroad because I wanted to see if French women really were as good looking as I had always heard. The truth is that Italian women are the best looking Europeans, followed close by Swiss and Spanish (Eastern Europe, maybe with the exception of the Czech Republic, well, not so hot women). Of course, Greek women are in a league of their own. So I do like your decision to pick Spain. The French Riviera is an excellent choice also.

The French aren't a very attractive people. North Italians are attractive, south Italians look like gypsies. Eastern Europeans usually are attractive.

Yes, I agree. French women were def. not all they were cracked up to be. HOWEVER, the Russian girls at the beaches in Nice, Antibes, Villefranche were def babes. That had to be the biggest surprise of my time over there.
