I am a second year student. I took gen. chem. over the summer between 1st and 2nd year because I entered my university as a "Midyear" (entered during the middle of 1st year). And now I am taking orgo and bio. I plan to take the DAT this summer after taking a summer course. I am considering studying abroad in Spain. The thing is, my grades aren't that high yet since they are based on just a few classes since my summer classes don't factor into my GPA. I am wondering when I should study abroad, and if anyone knows if I can take physics during my junior year at a school in Spain or elsewhere and then be able to take the 2nd semester at my University. I am worried about traveling abroad during my 4th year because that is the time of applications. And I am worried about taking physics as a senior because I don't think that my grades from orgo and bio are enough for my GRA. Has anyone traveled for one semester and taken one semester of physics while abroad and then continued the other semester at their US school?

Studying abroad during your 4th year isn't a good idea. You'll need to be in town to receive any correspondence from the schools and go to interviews during this time. You don't want to go home to a mailbox full of letters that were delivered in August. Many schools will throw out your application if they haven't heard a response from you about scheduling an interview date.

On a side note, one of my friends studied abroad in Spain and she said it was one of the most memorable experiences she has ever had. 🙂 Maybe you can try the study abroad thing your Junior year rather than Senior year.
