Much rather be here than anywhere near a copy of FA or RR

I've always had a thing for Cytokine's albums before they got a vocalist. At first you think its kind of repetitive but then you realize that its AWESOME.

A little off the beaten track of music but the techo-trancey-ness is very conductive to studying in my opinion.

Those are awesome. Thanks for that.

I couldn't listen to that...purely because I played DKC2 for like 1000 hours growing up and I'd think about that level rather than study 😀

You can listen to the rest of the songs in those albums if you want. They're pretty good on loop while studying:

You can download them in the US because they're an amateur Japanese group and they're not licenced in the US. Mods: I'll take this down if its still against rules.

I feel like I'm fighting a boss. Nice.

Yeah its because Cytokine's songs are all remixes of music from the Touhou series of games and the whole idea behind the games were that they were to be a vehicle for the music, not the other way around, so the music tends to be pretty awesome.

The USMLE isn't nearly as hard as some of those games:

Here's my 2 cents:

1) Whatever you listen to should be w/o lyrics. When you're reading/contemplating the spoken word and another source is bombarding you with more words, you're looking at some measure of distraction.

2) Make yourself an instrumental playlist, around 3-hours long, which will be playing repetitively while you study. While you may be mildly distracted when these songs might be new, the repetition will breed such a familiarity with these tunes that while they will be relaxing and pleasant, they will not distract you. I have been using this method for a while and it works great for me.

3) As for listening material, I listen to old soundtracks from classic films and easy-listening classical music. Don't go for the heavy-duty long classical pieces; they might bore you and put you to sleep. Go for tunes with an average length (4 minutes-ish)

Hope this helps!

Lady Gaga almost exclusively. Not a joke.

love this song, also i generally enjoy just listening to any old school SNES stage themes while doing anything.

Another good one is Super Mario 64 End theme, and all of the Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger OSTs.

Four Tet

The new Radiohead album is pretty boring so I can listen to that too.

I don't listen to a lot of Explosions in the Sky, but I buy into the whole post rock thing working.

On that note, Sigur Ros (because I have not idea what they are saying)
