I was looking for a sound study plan for Step 2 CK.Can anyone give me a rundown on what books, tests, timeline to follow and how to tackle FA best?

If this has already been posted, please post the link here so I can locate it.

Thanks!

In the UWorld and Scores thread, many people say what their strategies were. This isn't like Step 1 though, the general consensus is that if you finished your shelf exams in the past year, UWorld is 95% of the study material.

Maybe step 2 secrets/Crush step 2/First Aid step 2 if you feel you need it, but I thought those were all garbage personally.

Anyone? A link would help as well🙂

what i would do:

1. read FA

2. uworld qbank - take notes on things you don't know when you come across

3. if you have alot of time, you can also do kaplan / usmlerx,

4. go over your notes you took while doing questions. possibly reread FA

mcmumbi podcasts are bascially crush step2 stuff, I really hate reading so i did those for a change of pace along the way.

I'd say do all the uworld questions and after each test read all the explanations they give even if you got the question right. As you are going along if you notice you have an area of weakness go back and review that area.

Of course the amount of studying you need depends on your current level of knowledge and your score expectation.

Thanks for the responses guys!

Since I am doing few projects at the moment and not into rotations as yet,I am hoping to devote some time to master step 2 knowledge until I have this free time, complete core rotations and then finally give the exam.

So considering I have good time ahead of me,I will be using these:

FA
Step 2 secrets
Step-up to medicine
Crush Step 2

USMLERx
UW

Anything I am missing/tweaks? Thanks again👍

Although there are no set books to use for CK, the following list is a good combination for those who have alloted a good number of weeks (no more than 6 weeks, 3-4 would suffice with time off or during a light 4th year elective).

Step Up to Medicine (focusing in Cards, GI, Endo, Hem, Pulmo, Connective, Renal, ID, and briefly, the Ambulatory section at the end)
Step 2 Secrets
MTB (Dr. Fischer, similar to his Step 3 book for more focused on CK material)
*UW* no doubt at this one

I agree with going over the notes you took from uworld. I took step2ck last monday. I saw many clues from uworld that I wish I had 'nailed down in my brain'. Like aside from placenta previa and abruptio placenta for third trimester bleeding there was vasa previa..and there was a clue about suprapubic tenderness on uworld that was on the the real exam. clues were everywhere from uworld.

I'd recommend just doing every question on world, reading all the answers, and repeating your wrong answers. That should be fine prep.
