As we are all intense premeds, what are some musical choices that keep us motivated while studying?

What are some songs that you use to get pumped before big exams?

I myself like to have instrumentals for studying so that the words don't interfere with my reading comprehension. I like things like Aston instrumental remixes of popular songs and Rodrigo y Gabriela guitar medleys. Before tests, my go-to songs are The Offspring "You're Gonna Go Far Kid," 50 Cent "If I Can't," and Lupe Fiasco "The Show Goes On." I especially like the last song, cuz, after all, we do this for the kids....😀

When I am studying for statistics I listen to 90's NYC gangster rap.

Daft Punk singlehandedly got me through MCAT studying.

Not gonna lie, I put on the Lord of the Rings soundtrack when I'm studying for a test. Love me some Howard Shore.

Classical music category on Pandora for most science work (cause I need to be really focused and serious for that).

For mindless work (such as an easy essay or lab report that simply needs to be done) I listen to catchy stuff like Childish Gambino.

+1. Classical music for stuff that requires focus. Top 40 music (whatever is on local radio station) for non-important homework

Explosions In The Sky
Daft Punk - Alive 2007 (live)
Justice - A Cross The Universe (live)

Any epic soundtracks: Tron, Braveheart, Mission Impossible, etc.

Reading something like a bio book, I'll listen to nonlyrical music such as electronic dance music or film scores.
For quantitative study like math or physics, I'll listen to some underground hip hop.

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb

When I really need to focus, I put on classical music (e.g. Vivaldi or Beethoven). I like to listen to jam bands such as Phish or Umphrey's for less intense studying.

My pump-up song for virtually any test is Peter Frampton's "Do You Feel Like We Do". There's nothing greater than the talk box.

YES! Frampton! Check out his rendition of "While my guitar gently weeps." My ears bleed every time from the sheer awesomeness! 😎

Just listened to it. I'm at a loss for words. Thank you, good sir.

Gonna be listening to this all through the Crescent City Classic tomorrow. My goal is to finish before the album ends. 😀

Some Shpongle is often nice too.

Study music: phish, rolling stones, Dave Matthews, grace potter & the nocturnals

Opera! I'm an amateur musician and regular subscriber to the Metropolitan Opera in NYC going to 13 shows next season and also subscribe to opera in Philadelphia.

This is a great song from the opera La Traviata by Verdi. Unfortunately, the singer was somewhat ill that day. In a performance a few days later she was replaced by her understudy.

When I was in undergrad I would listen to this type of music while going over organic chem notes/mechanisms after I already understood it all.

Anything electronic. For some reason I can't concentrate with lyrics floating around.

Electronic/dance music makes me want to dance but if I can't transfer that potential energy from my feet to my head and hands, I become über productive.

Ha. You really included physics in your answer? Lol 🙂
