I occasionally have brain farts (maybe others do too, i hope).
here is a quick question which I need a quick answer for:
how is the treatment different for typical vs. atypical pneumonia?
What I seem to find on the ID Society's guidelines does not specify the type of pathogen, but just throws either azithromycin or doxy at it, or "advances" treatment to a fluoroquinolone or b-lactam+macrolide.
Is this true for typical AND atypical pathogens? Then why do we bother classifying them??
