(Alternative title: how do I intern?)

Does anyone have recommendations for what I could read to make myself less dumb on off-service rotations? I'm still in that med student mindset that I need to be studying for the rotation I'm on, but there's no shelf at the end, just..life. So far I've just been reading up-to-date on my patients, but I would like something a little more comprehensive. Most of what I've found is geared towards future internists, and I probably wouldn't be able to make it through on my 3 months of medicine. Also, I won't be taking Step 3 til next year so it seems early to start on Uworld.

I’m just a fresh intern myself, but I believe these two books to be pretty good based on my (pretty intense) medicine sub-I:

Resident Readiness Internal Medicine
Amazon product ASIN 0071773185
Medicine Morning Report: Beyond The Pearls
Amazon product ASIN 0323358098
You’ll still need to read UpToDate (and maybe reviews in NEJM and Lancet and such) for whatever you patients have, but I think these two books provide a nice intern level frame to build your knowledge on.

I don’t know of any books like this for neuro. I’ll go with the (really needing an updated edition) MGH neuro pocketbook and Kaufman’s Neurology for Psychiatrists (because we’ll have to read it anyway) + appropriate references as needed.
